Karel Frederik Wenckebach a professor of medicine at the University of Groningen. He is primarily remembered for his work in cardiology. In 1899 he provided a description of irregular pulses due to partial blockage of atrioventricular conduction, creating a progressive lengthening of conduction time in cardiac tissue.
To remember and honour him Studio Lau made a wooden 'pixel portrait' of Wenckebach with 3 different layers for a 3D effect. When entering the building, you can recognise the professor in the portrait. When you come closer you will get to see a more abstract art piece.
